Finer control over shipping options would be helpful:

1.) Package dimensions - so that real-time rates can calculate dimensional weights and carriers can reject packages that are too big (for instance USPS will not accept a package that is over 60" long)

2.) Offer the customer all shipping options which match, not just the first carrier that matches, i.e. the ability to offer UPS and USPS with real-time rates and let the customer choose.

3.) Limit certain zones in combination with certain products to specific carriers. For instance, I would like all US shipments to go UPS because I get a bulk discount from UPS. However for international shipments USPS is much less expensive for the customer, so I would like to offer that. The one exception is that some of my international shipments are over-sized for USPS, and therefore I must use UPS. Since Ecwid doesn't know about my over-sized items, without some better control of shipping options, my customer might place an over-sized international order using USPS and I get stuck with the extra $150 cost of shipping by UPS because USPS can't accept the over-sized package.

In summary: can we have - specific shippers for specific products going to specific zones, package dimension info presented to carriers' real-time rate APIs, and offer customers multiple carriers real-time rates, not just the first match.

I remember there was talk about how to connect not only on EMC Russian Post, but also the regular mail in Russia. Does it have appeared IPA, if so, when you plan to connect. This delivery method is relevant for trade with CIS countries, since EMC exorbitant prices for sending in these countries.

I know there is a popup box now but that is overkill for USA users. The system picks a random state/zipcode and uses that for the default ship to location to estimate shipping and tax. the user now has to click "change" , the popup box opens they must select state and input zipcode, select shipping method b/c it goes to my in store pickup by default for some reason.

Why input state and zip code? only zipcode is needed... at least for USA only merchants

What I would like to see is an empty text field with a button next to it so the buyer can input there zipcode without a popup box and click the button to get a shipping estimate. not have a random state and zip picked by default and show wrong shipping like currently. no popup, no state selection. If not default shipping is wanted or different country is still needed the "change" button and popup can still be used parallel to the

Also wanted as discussed in other ideas is the default shipping method for this to work properly.

Real time rates are not based on item weight alone, they are based upon item weight plus the weight of packaging. I want to be able to add containers to the admin backend with configurable weight, length, width, and height values. Items also need length, width, and height values. The cart should assign the correct container based upon cubic volume of the order *and* the length/width/height of the largest item in the order. This way, the cart will have a correct weight and size to pass to the real time rate API, AND it'll also prevent customers from doing something stupid like pick a small USPS flat rate box when the order needs a bigger box than that.
