VAT (or other tax) calculation from retail price
VAT (or other tax) calculation from retail price. For example we have retail price USD 99, VAT is 21%, so we enter only retail price and system calculates price exVAT like PriceexVAT=RP/(1+0,21) (in this case result is 81,818).

Allow zoning by county
It would be helpful, in the US, to be able to create a zone by county, not just by country, state and zip code.
This is because there are cases where the client's county can affect the sales tax.
Yes, zip codes can be used to approximate this, but finding and entering all 20 or so of the proper zip codes is a time-consuming and error-prone task.
But the REAL problem is that zip codes can cross counties--so if I zone by zip code, I may charge the incorrect amount of sales tax for someone who lives in that zip… more35 votes -
specify multiple tax rates on invoices
Right now, when a customer buys 2 things with a different tax rate on it (1 item 6% , and 1 item 19%) , it only shows the total tax amount.
The bookkeeper will not see how much tax of the 6% category and the 19% category or maybe even the 0% category needs to be recordedcould Ecwid not for instance present the tax specification on the bill like this ? :
- tax low (6%) : 6.76 euro
- tax high (19%) 43.88 euro
- tax exemption (0%) 0.00 euro24 votes -
Apply tax only to shipping charges
Add a third option in the global tax settings to apply tax on shipping charges only. This is necessary for certain types of products in Canada. For example, books are currently exempt from all provincial taxes and are subject only to federal GST (5%) or the federal portion of HST (5%). However, shipping charges are subject to the applicable GST (5%), PST (varies) or full HST (varies), depending on the destination province.

Allow the system to Access the WA Sales Tax Rate Lookup URL Interface
In WA State, the Tax system is Destination based on the The Zip code +4 system. There are 35,000+ of these and if we were to input all of these codes.
Because WA state has created an interface that allows for a cart to access the real time tax codes, This wiuld be a one time customization or Module if you will, that would allow WA state users to not have to spend hours on actually creating and updating the system. Carts such as OSComerce and Drupal's Ubercart already have this system in place. But Ecwid is much more flexible… more

Tax Exempt
Hey, I need to only charge sales tax in California. Which I figured out how to do from another post. But what if I have a customer in California who is tax exempt or is reselling my products and so does not need sales tax to be part of transaction.

Apply tax based on shipping or billing address
Many states require tax to be charged for customers buying from OR outside customers buying from and shipping to the state that the business resides. California being one of them we need a third option added to be able to apply tax for "billing OR shipping address", not one or the other.

Automatic setup for Taxes in Canada..
Is it possible to have a automatic set-up for taxe in Canada. I sell in Canada, and in the US... IT's not easy to set-up those taxes..
ex:
Canada:
Québec = 2 taxes (one on the other)
some states = GST
other State = HST
US no taxes...
To complicated for me.. I'm willing to pay to have this setup.9 votes -
Add a import tool for tax zones
Apparently tax codes change often enough to where our accounting wants zones created for every single zip code. This is tedious at best with the current system. If there were a import feature (CSV, tab delimated) for tax rates and zip codes it would make creating and keeping up with tax rates much easier.

expand the tax field to more digits. Minnesota measures in 1/8s (.125) of a %. Rounding won't do.
My state of Minnesota has sales tax that 6.875%. That's up 3/8 from 6.5%. Currently, Ecwid rounds this to 6.88 which won't do at all. Basically, everyone in Minnesota (and possibly other states in the US) will have rounding errors on taxes collected. That's not good, especially if a customer complains about it!

VAT Fix Rate
It will be good to create a field for fix rate, because we only got a % variavel rate base in the subtotal.

Improve Tax Adding
I think the tax section of the could be greatly improved, it's a bit confusing.
Maybe a table format so that many rates could be typed in at once.
